A new reason for working out.
Updated: May 11
Getting ready for a workout 🏋️♀️ DEFINITELY has a different meaning for me now. It used to be clockwork, not much thought put in... almost robotic. It was necessity. A requirement to keep the appearance of an “attractive body.” You know, the one you're naturally born with and supposed to maintain through age and childbearing?
I know it all comes from conditioning. I know that I’m in charge of the thoughts bouncing around in my head and the meaning I choose to give them, but some days those doubts creep in. Some days those nasty little broken records begin to play in our minds again.

Now, before a workout, I take just a moment to get centered. I thank my body for getting me through Lyme, I thank my creator for gifting me a day with minimal pain. One that allows me to scrub a shower and do laundry. One that blesses me with the strength to use 10 or 12 lb. weights and wake the next morning feeling the beautiful work in progress.
Tony Robbins (and my fantastic coach friend, Tess Vergara) teaches that the way you feel about a thing cannot be changed until the meaning you assign it changes too. Wow... how the meaning of exercise has changed for me!
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone says the word exercise? If it’s negative, dig a little deeper and see if you can’t find why. That usually brings up some emotion. Let yourself feel that, then let it go and change your mind. Being in charge of your thoughts is such a beautiful thing!!
